In response to the rapidly changing circumstances associated with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the MNRS Board of Directors has made the decision to move the in-person conference to a virtual experience.
In doing so, the Board carefully weighed the risks to attendees and their families, colleagues, and students. As the premiere society that develops scholars, drives science, and leads innovation to improve the health of all people, the Board feels strongly that MNRS must continue to fulfill its mission in the face of COVID-19. The science needs to be shared, student work needs to be fostered, and nursing researchers need a place to share ideas, innovations, and methodologies. We must be flexible while acknowledging this global health issue.
First and foremost, the Board of Directors would like to thank the Program Planning Committee (PPC), the PPC Chair, Dr. Susie Breitenstein, and the Host Schools for their work in coordinating the 2020 Annual Research Conference. It takes more than a year of planning to ensure all the details and science for the conference and we want to thank each and every person and organization that has dedicated time and expertise to make this year’s conference possible.
Please be sure to reference the updates below for the latest information regarding the virtual 2020 Annual Research Conference:
The MNRS 2020 Annual Research Conference will transition from an in-person meeting to a virtual experience. We will send all conference attendees information regarding meeting attendance including links and calling instructions the week of the conference. Please be sure to check your email for daily conference emails regarding changes to the schedule and updated links.
MNRS will offer continuing education credits to all conference attendees who purchased the option during registration. After the conference, all attendees will be asked to evaluate the conference and attest to the sessions they attended. The conference itinerary planner is the most up-to-date resource for the conference schedule and access to presenter information and abstracts. Please be sure to reference the itinerary planner, mobile app, and the online program book throughout the conference. As the conference was plan to CENTRAL time, all times listed in the program book, mobile app, and itinerary planner are listed in CENTRAL time.
Please note that the conference will proceed as planned with minor changes to the schedule. The Emerging Scholars Network session will continue as a panel presentation, “Global Opportunities for Nursing Research & Evidence-Based Practice”. Lunch will not be served. We also want to thank the ESN sponsors:
The virtual conference will occur over the same dates and will follow the same schedule as originally planned. We will be sending all presenters their Zoom links the week of the conference.

Please note that during the conference the attendees will see your prepared slides and hear your voice. Additionally, you will be sharing your presentation on your computers and advancing your own slides.
Poster Discussion Format:
Since we do not have the opportunity to showcase physical posters within the poster discussion, we request that each poster discussion presenter upload a slide with a digital version of your poster and will have 3 minutes to introduce your work for the first 30 minutes of the session. The remaining 60 minutes will include a moderated discussion. We will be following up in the next couple of weeks with information on presenting virtually through Zoom.
